Southern History

The CSS Albemarle, and ironclad ram instrumental in defeating the Union forces at the battle of Plymouth NC, April 1864. After spending a very pleasurable two nights with our friends from Cape Cod, Sandy and Mike, at their home in historic Edenton, our next stop is the Outer Banks for a Memorial Day respite with our nieces and nephew-in-law.

The Tar Heel State

After a week of pedaling we arrived in North Carolina. A special thanks to Sheila, Jerry, Meg, Amy and Mr. Larry for two wonderful days of rest and relaxation, thunderstorms and tornado watches excluded.

The Palmetto State

Charleston was absolutely beautiful but the shoulders on the roads leave much to be desired. One week and 200 miles down on our long ride home.

The Ride Home

Where did the winter go? It is almost time for us the head back out on the road. Preventive maintenance is completed on the bike, the bills are paid and the route has been mapped. All that is left is to get to our starting point.

This part our our journey finds us riding up the Atlantic Coast. We depart from Savannah, Georgia the end of this month and ride north with spring. If all go as planned, we hope to be enjoying the 4th of July fireworks with family on Cape Cod. Then its back to the real world for a while.

Signing off for now. More posts and emails to come as we take the long ride home.
